There’s nothing quite as unnerving as arriving home from holiday, and finding you’ve either lost your key or the front door lock refuses to budge. This unfortunately boils down to a lack of care or just stupidity. I can say that, because I’ve been guilty of these oversights myself when I was younger.
Lost Keys – The solution is as simple as people’s failure follow it is incredulous. Leave a spare set of keys with a good friend you trust, so they can visit your home from time to time too. That way, you may never need to Find a Locksmith at such an inconvenient hour.
Jammed Locks – It’s a funny old thing, isn’t it? We update our ant-virus databases and we even sometimes mow our garden lawns. Yet we leave our essential door and window locks to take care of themselves completely, when all you need to do is the following:
• Lubricate all your exterior door locks with a puff of graphite powder (not oil because that will attract the dirt and dust). Lock and unlock them several times to work the lubricant in. If the lock is exposed to the elements and seldom used, consider taping over the outside keyhole with a piece of weatherproof tape to keep the moisture out.
• The advice of every London Locksmith and all others lock repairers too is to take action as soon as a lock starts giving trouble. If you can open the door or window you could change the lock yourself. At the least you could possibly avoid paying overtime rates.
• Inspect your keys monthly for signs of damage, and never, ever use worn ones. That’s because a broken piece of key can be impossible to remove, necessitating an expensive repair.
Whatever else you do please do not overlook the need to maintain your locks. Did we mention you can get Locksmith Quotes on Mr-Skill too? You’ll find the rates more than competitive and our service exemplary. Isn’t that good to know. Remember that in times of trouble we’re here for you.

We are all becoming a bit more conscious about the state of our planet these days, aren’t we? A related theme is the quality of the food we eat, after farmers have finished bombarding it with chemicals to increase the yield per acre. Commercial honey is a case in point. If the jar does not say organic, then what in heaven’s name is waiting for us beneath the cap?
Because bees are a loyal gardener’s friend that pollinates the next season’s flowers for us, attracting them to our gardens makes a great deal of sense. Who knows, perhaps we shall be making our own honey soon, and I personally think that that would be a really great idea. Perhaps next time we Find a Gardener we should be checking out their green profile too.
Bees are active between March and late October every year and the trick is to sow seeds accordingly. Bees like striking colours, fancy petal shapes, enticing scents and sweet nectars which are great for gardeners who love variety too. Bees also look out for movement and prefer to land in open spaces, meaning that single flowers on supple stems are just perfect for them. Perhaps this is why so many of our native flower species are made just like that.
The borages are the most effective way to attract bees to the garden, with comfrey coming up a close second best. All varieties of fabaceae are good too, including clover and other species of pea. Next time you are looking for a Gardening Quote, remember to consider the seedlings they will be planting out for you.
But please, when your little friends arrive to share your flowering garden with you, remember that pesticides also kill bees too. In fact, why use pesticides at all when so many useful plants have been found that do the same job just as well. A firm of London Gardeners I visit often, have a sign above the door that says this so perfectly. A garden is a place where birds and bees come home to share with us – the gardener is just the custodian. Now that’s something for every gardener to think about.

We choose our Builders on Mr-Skill with great care and are proud of the reputation they enjoy. It may however happen from time to time (but thankfully very seldom) that things do not work out quite as well as everybody hoped. When this happens, we investigate circumstances very carefully to continually improve the quality of our service, and to make sure our customers Find a Builder who suits them.
Almost inevitably we find that the root cause of the problem is a natural misunderstanding that developed between a Builder and their Customer, often as a result of one of the following classic problems:
o The Customer did not explain requirements sufficiently or the Builder did not understand them. In our experience there is only one way to avoid this, and that is a written specification signed off by both parties.
o The job took longer than the Customer expected. There are usually two reasons for this, namely unexpected snags and inclement weather. Unfortunately these are both beyond the control of either party. The best way to avoid a problem escalating is to agree a strategy when negotiating Building Quotes.
o There is disagreement about the final price charged after the work is completed. Again co-operation is the only way to really avoid conflicts, and that means agreeing all escalations before they apply.
o I may have mentioned the Builder in London I know before, but I must say that I always find his advice well-worthwhile repeating. He reckons that marriages and building contracts have at least one thing in common, and that it to beware of bad body chemistry (but not the way you could be thinking).
He believes that the secret to avoiding building disputes is to avoid doing business with anybody who does not feel quite right as he puts it. When he finds a client with whom he knows he really can work well, he approaches everything thereafter as if they were both business partners and friends.
This is why we always say team up with your builder too, for the simple reason that this really does make the difference.

Now that summer is around the corner and we are in the Merry Month of May, it is time for us to turn our thoughts to our little feathered friends who are busy raising families. How much does bird seed cost anyway compared to the joys we share? So its time to hop onto the internet, and find something that will complement the garden and our tastes.
In times gone by one almost had to Find a Carpenter to knock a wooden bird table together (unless one was really handy) and that could easily cost a barrow-load of bird seed. These days bird feeders are available off the peg (if you’ll excuse the expression) and the only problem that remains is making up your mind.
My friendly Carpenter in London is a curious fellow who likes to know that is happening in his town. He tells me that the latest fad is feeders shaped like fruit or vegetables, he thinks because so few plants grow these days in concrete canyons of the City
I am personally quite fond of bird feeders that look light little houses, just in case someone is looking for someplace to build a nest. I have seen many shapes from temples to pagodas. Some are so complicated that I think you almost might need a Joiner Quote from Mr-Skill before you ordered one made up.
Life is full of fun and we need to all help keep it that way. The wildlife that survives in Britain needs to be cared for too. So why not go down to the shops today, and find a bird feeder perfect for your needs. Your feathered friends will reward you with their song as you reward them with their food and drink.

In this busy, sometimes even hectic world in which we find ourselves these days, many of us are just too busy to keep our homes and gardens as tidy as we would like them to be. A garden service has become a popular replacement for a retained gardener. Few of us have servants any more. Has it become time for UK families to Find a Housekeeper to come in once a week? There are two broad ways to tackle the problem.
1. Get Housekeeping Quotes from a professional housekeeping firm. Sometimes these folk bring in a cleaning team. Others prefer to act as brokers for individual cleaning persons. There are advantages to this approach although it can be a little impersonal at times They fulfil the role of employers, and are bound to supply replacements when your regular cleaner is ill or away on holiday.
2. There are many Housekeepers in London who prefer to go solo, and you can find these on Mr-Skill too. They usually begrudge the percentages that labour brokers charge, but also prefer to hand-pick their clients personally. They are often like Mrs Doubtfire in the Robin Williams movie in so far as their dedication and skills are concerned. Find a good one, to come in on one or more days a week, and your problems could be gone forever.
Many United Kingdom families regard their homes as their castles, and resist the thought of letting strangers in. When you hire a housekeeping service through Mr-Skill you gain two advantages. The first is a rated individual or firm you that can trust more easily, The second could almost be a cleaning friend for life.
